The CoU-PDR Department was established in 1974 as a Planning and Advisory Office to the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda at a time when the country was experiencing political, social and economic turmoil. It was a response in fulfilment of the Christ’s mission “...I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full “Jn 10:10., CoU-PDR has been championing the Church of Uganda response to social-economic development challenges faced by various communities in the Province, promoting peace and social justice, mitigating the adverse effects of HIV/AIDS and Malaria, coordinating humanitarian response disasters/emergencies, strengthening the community household capacities in water, food and income security as well augmenting Institutional capacities for Church Organs and Structures from national to grass root levels.  In its current 6 year strategic plan, 2012-2017, Cou PDR is focusing on 5 thematic directions, responding to cross cutting issues, programmes and services, adequate funding, institutional strengthening and effective working relationships partnerships. have it more abundantly”(John 10:10). CoU-PDR Department commits herself to the

promotion of a holistic ministry of Christ’s Church in Uganda and beyond.
